The oldest, largest and most
famous sailing regatta in the
world. The event, which was
first staged in 1826, has long
been a mainstay of the
country’s social calendar. Its
eight-day schedule combines
many elements, from
competitive sailing to a swathe
of non-stop social activities.
The 8,500 competitors range
from Olympic and world class
professionals to weekend
sailors. In excess of 100,000
spectators come to watch the
sailing, enjoy the parties and
live entertainment, and to soak
up the atmosphere.
