Skandia Cowes Week

Cowes & The Solent:

The oldest, largest and most famous sailing regatta in the world. The event, which was first staged in 1826, has long been a mainstay of the country’s social calendar. Its eight-day schedule combines many elements, from competitive sailing to a swathe of non-stop social activities. The 8,500 competitors range from Olympic and world class professionals to weekend sailors. Garlic Festival

This year promises to be the biggest ever staging of this unique Island Festival, with over 20,000 people expected to attend. There will be more than 300 stalls selling delicious foods and a range of great arts and crafts. On top of this, Alvin Stardust will be performing, as will the Apple Beatles and a number of top local bands. Circus performers, a huge beer tent, exotic animals, a fun fair, puppet shows and magic displays are just some of the other entertainments on offer.
