Sunday Best presents Bestival

Robin Hill:

At the time of writing, the Bestival line-up had yet to be announced, but expect an eclectic mix of live music and the best DJs. BBC Introducing will have a stage at Bestival, featuring some of the the best new UK artists. As well as the music, Bestival has the world’s biggest fancy dress party, the Bollywood cocktail bar, Laughter Clubs, a farmers’ market, kids area, Morris dancing, magical moments and more. All in all, one of the most colourful events in the festival calendar. Bestival has been voted ‘Best Medium Sized Festival’ at the UK Festival Awards in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

International Charity Classic Car Extravaganza

This event is now in its seventh year and promises to be bigger than ever before. Situated at spectacular venues in Newport quay on the Saturday and Ryde Esplanade on the Sunday, attendance is set to exceed 800 vintage, classic, custom and retro cars and motorcycles from all over the UK. Among the great vehicles on show will be a special gathering of Rolls- Royces and Bentleys, rubbing bumpers with some rarely

Isle of Wight Cycling Festival

Throughout the Island:
13 - 21 September
Cycling festivals have been taking place on the Isle of Wight since the late 1970s,
but the current format has only been in existence since 2001. It now features a host of rides that appeal to passionate mountain bikers and road cyclists, as well as those who
only dust down the pedals once a year. Major events include Sink or Swim (the
cycle the Medina fun race), the West Wight Triathlon, the Hills Killer, Singles Cycle, the Wight Challenge and the Round the Island Route.

This triathlon consists of a 600m swim, 35km cycle, 7.5km run. The event is getting increasingly popular.


White Air Festival

Yaverland, Sandown:

Now in its 12th year, White Air is an international multi-sport festival – the largest of its kind in Europe – with action on water, beach, urban, air and land, plus art and a live music stage. Over 40 countries will be represented and over 500 competitors will take part. You’ll see world champions in 18 action sports, and have the chance to try out 21 'have a go!' public sports, including free ocean kayak, windsurfing, surfing, paragliding, powerboat and kitesurfing sessions.
