BRICKFIELDS HORSE COUNTRY

Binstead A great day out for all the family. Home to Shire Horses, miniature ponies, donkeys and a host of farm animals. A variety of demonstrations, plus tractor rides, pony rides and a lovely carriage collection. There is a BHS-approved riding school on-site for riding lessons and hacks. Gift and saddlery shop, café and bar.

BUTTERFLY AND FOUNTAIN WORLD

Wootton Butterfly World has exotic butterflies from five continents flying freely in a sub-tropical indoor garden. Leading from this is Fountain World, with its elegant Italian garden and a Japanese garden teeming with Koi carp and full of oriental plants. On to the children’s animated section with clown band and finally through the Jumping Jets of water and out into the large gift shop. There is also a restaurant and one of the largest garden centres on the Island.

COLEMANS ANIMAL FARM

FAKENHAM FARM

St Helens You start your journey in the hatching house, where you’ll see the incubators and hatching chicks from different species of poultry and a display of eggs, from ostrich to quail. You’ll meet friendly goats and playful kids, plus pigs, piglets and various types of turkey. Also on-site are native ponies, Ankole cattle, traditional British cattle, water buffalo, rheas and drumming emus. Have a drink or a bite to eat in the Cock-a-doodle-do café looking out at the emus and sea views across the solent towards St Helens fort and beyond to Chichester.

ISLE OF WIGHT DONKEY SANCTUARY

Wroxall The sanctuary is home to around 100 donkeys. You can help by sponsoring a donkey for £20 per year. In return, you’ll receive a mounted certificate and photograph of your donkey. Great gift shop on-site.
